Shahid Kapoor to romance 'stepmother' Tabu in 'Haider'

Mumbai: In Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Haider’, a very interesting plot between two characters has come to light. It’s Shahid Kapoor and Tabu, who have extensively shot for the film in Kashmir a couple of months back. In a recent interview to a tabloid, Vishal Bharadwaj gave a hint towards Oedipus complex in the film but didn’t reveal details.

‘Haider’ is based on William Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’ and it is Vishal’s third Shakespearean trilogy, the other two being Maqbool ( Macbeth) and Omkara (Othello).

In ‘Haider’, a source close to the project revealed that Tabu plays a role of a stepmother to Shahid and this plot has been strictly kept under wraps. Coming back to Oedipus, it means a child’s desire to have a sexual relationship with the parent of the opposite sex.

But this revelation by Vishal means that in the film, the characters of Shahid and Tabu will be having a very complex sexual relationship. Giving this situation, it will be interesting to see how the audience react to this kind of a relationship on-screen, ones the film hits the theatres.
