Subramanian Swamy seeks EC action against Kapil Sibal over election affidavit
Mr Swamy has accused Mr Sibal of not disclosing companies owned by the latter’s wife
New Delhi: Accusing Law Minister Kapil Sibal of "wilfully" not disclosing details of companies owned by his wife in his election affidavit, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday today approached the Election Commission seeking action against the Congress candidate from Chandni Chowk.
Sibal, however, rejected the charge.
In a petition to Election Commissioner H S Brahma, Swamy alleged that Sibal has "wilfully failed to disclose" in his affidavit the assets and liabilities details of at least three companies owned by his wife.
"The failure to disclose these companies especially since they are of substantial assets, is a serious perjury under the criminal law...please forward this complaint with the Election
Commission's recommendation to the magistrate concerned to take cognisance and issue due process," Swamy said in his petition.
Sibal rejected the allegation, saying "if he (Swamy) finds any assets of my wife not disclosed by me, then I will give it to him without any charge."
