LUCKNOW:  Congress leader Priyanka Vadra on Tuesday said that  Manmohan Singh was a ‘super Prime Minister’ in the UPA government.

Ms Vadra was reacting to the controversy that has erupted over the book written by the Prime Minister's former media advisor Sanjaya Baru.
Mr Baru has claimed in his book that Mrs Sonia Gandhi held the remote control in the UPA government. “Only Manmohan Singh was super PM,” Priyanka said.
Ms Vadra was in Amethi on Tuesday to campaign for her brother Rahul Gandhi.

Stepping up attack on Sanjay Baru’s book, the Congress dubbed it as “mother of all plants” and asserted that PM Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi have the “best of relations”.
In a lengthy statement, Congress dwelt at length over the book by Mr Baru, dubbing his account as “baseless and riddled with contradictions.” He had no privileged access or inside knowledge, the party stated.

It also questioned the timing of the release of Mr Baru’s book and former coal secretary P.C. Parakh’s book. Party leader Ajay Maken termed alleged that the authors have played into the hands of the political opponents of the Congress by releasing the
books in the midst of elections.
