TIRUVANNAMALAI: The body of the two-and-a-half-year-old boy who fell inside a 150 feet borewell and died, was dug out by a joint team comprising Tamil Nadu fire and rescue services personnel, district police, and a borewell rescue team from Coimbatore at 5.30 pm on Wednesday following a 25-hour ordeal.
Sujith had fallen inside the borewell on Tuesday evening.
The borewell rescue team that arrived from Coimbatore on Wednesday, could not use its robot as the borewell was very deep. “We had to continue digging a parallel pit,” an official said. The rescue team had dug a pit about 47 feet deep. “The toddler, however, died long before we co-uld reach him,” a member of the rescue team said.
