New Delhi : N. Srinivasan, who is scheduled to take over as chairman of the revamped International Cricket Council this July, was for the first time named directly in a list of 13 in the betting and fixing probe with annexures against each individual, indicating there was further material needing examination related to the charges. The court, however, did not say why Mr Srinivasan had been named in the report.
In a fresh development late on Wednesday night, the Rajasthan Cricket Association called for an emergency working committee meeting of the board at its Mumbai headquarters on Sunday, April 20, ahead of the next hearing in the Supreme Court on April 22. Television reports, meanwhile, claimed nine other state associations had also joined in the demand, seeking clarity on who was keeping tabs on the BCCI’s counsel. “We have noticed the observations of the Supreme Court during today’s hearing.
We are unaware as to who is instructing the counsel appearing for the board... The issues have never been discussed at a board meeting and no board meeting has been convened in this regard,” the RCA said. In a letter to BCCI acting chief Shivlal Yadav, RCA officiating secretary K.K. Sharma said: “We feel that the board counsel should be instructed about the board decision and should not take instructions from certain individuals.”
A BCCI official confirmed that at least five to six other associations had sent similar letters.
