Chennai: A rant on her personal profile on a social networking site, by actress-producer Sona Heiden is the latest on Kollywood’s gossip rounds.
“Tomorrow, hot news on my blog on Venkat Prabhu’s friendship and betrayal. I will not stop till I get justice. Videos also coming soon, tilted Videos on betrayal. Someone has to pay the price,” says her post. It is a known fact that the two — friends earlier — have been at loggerheads for almost four years, since the can of worms opened with Sona accusing Venkat Prabhu of not repaying the money borrowed from her to direct a film. The film was stalled later.
Why bring up the issue again now? “Because he still hasn’t paid me back. The film was to be made under my production banner, with Venkat as director, but it got dropped for several reasons, including the SPB Charan controversy (he was accused of sexually assaulting her at a private party). I trusted him as he was my friend and was patient for several years. This matter had cropped up before Biryani’s release. At the time he denied ever taking money from me! Later on, he sent me a text urging me not to do anything drastic, that he was worried about his future and he would repay me somehow,” remarks an agitated Sona.
The diva is now all set to proceed legally on this front as this issue has affected her other film ventures as well, “It has spread to all parts of my career. Venkat has not respected me or shown me even basic decency. I really want this to be resolved. Our law system definitely works, and I expect justice to be given soon. The reason why this got dragged on for so long was because I was alone in my fight and was ignored whenever I brought the topic up. Enough is enough, though.”
Venkat Prabhu had earlier already stated that this claim was absolutely false, and he had never got into such a business interaction with Sona. The director’s phone was switched off and he couldn’t be contacted in the wake of these complaints.
