Hyderabad: The YSRC has filed a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Bhanwarlal, seeking a ban on film actor N. Balakrishna’s movie Legend as he is contesting from Hindupur Assembly constituency. The YSRC said the film was influencing voters.

In the complaint filed by YSRC state coordinator P N V Prasad, the party asked the EC to either stop the exhibition of the movie or to include the cost of production and collections of the movie in the expenditure account of candidate Balakrishna.

“By exhibiting the movie, he is trying to influence voters across the state. As he is contesting elections, it would cause irreparable loss to Opposition parties if the exhibition of the film is not stopped. This will create undue influence in the minds of voters in the state. If it is found that Rs 28 lakh limit is exceeded, he should be disqualified.”

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal said that the movies of film stars who are contesting elections can’t be telecast on Doodarshan and state-owned electronic media. With this, the films of Nagma, Balakrishna, Roja are to be banned on Doordarshan.
