Mumbai: Kenyan artist Michael Soi’s ‘pop-art condoms’, commissioned by the Centre for African Family Studies, are meant to attract young buyers who might otherwise face social stigma when buying them.
Soi’s subjects are modern, often interracial couples or young women drinking Tusker, a popular Kenyan beer brand.
According to Huffington Post, Soi’s initiative is aimed at reducing the number of HIV infections as well as to reduce the stigma associated with condom purchase in Kenya. Soi believes that the condom line, with it’s innovative marketing, can help break social barriers.
