Captain assures clean water, uninterrupted power supply
Vijayakanth assured he would take steps to construct a sea wall and groynes to prevent erosion
Chennai: DMDK founder Vijayakanth on Saturday said that he would ensure supply of clean drinking water and uninterrupted power supply to the people of the state in two years if Narendra Modi becomes the country’s Prime Minister.
Campaigning for his party’s North Chennai candidate, M. Soundarapandian at Kathivakkam, he urged the people to vote for his party candidate to make Modi the Prime Minister. “I will get you clean drinking water and power supply if Modi forms the government at the Centre. We do not have a magic wand to fulfil the promise immediately. But give us two years and we will fulfill promises,” he said.
Denying chief minister Jayalalithaa’s claim that Tamil Nadu has much better development record than Gujarat, the actor turned politician said that Modi’s Gujarat has developed phenomenally. “There is no power cut in Gujarat,” he said. He asked the ruling AIADMK to reveal details of year-wise capacity addition in the state. He said that he was ready to discuss the issue of power crisis to expose the lies of the government.
Criticising the successive governments in the state for failing to bring development in North Chennai, Vijayakanth said that no steps were being taken to develop North Chennai and make it on par with South Chennai.
“Due to thermal power plants and chemical industries, Ennore has become highly polluted. Ground water has become contaminated and people are facing health issues. MPs previously elected from this constituency have taken the side of the industries at the cost of public,” he alleged.
At Ennore, Vijayakanth assured the voters that he would take steps to construct a sea wall and groynes to prevent erosion which is a major issue affecting the fisher folk.
