Tata Motors launches new 'Aria'
Tata Aria features a 2.2 litre VARICOR engine, tailored by JBL
Mumbai: Tata Motors has launched its new car model ‘Aria’, which features a 2.2 litre VARICOR engine, which is tailored by JBL from HARMAN Premium Sound System. It also comes with a powerful output of 150PS and a high low-end torque of 320Nm for better pick-up and quick response, returning a fuel efficiency of 15.05km/litre (ARAI certified).
The new engine with VGT (Variable-Geometry Turbocharger) is electronically controlled with a lower-end flat torque, which kicks in from as low as 1500 rpm, for a more precise response from the engine, improving in-city driving capabilities.
JBL, a unit of Harman International Industries, Inc., specializes in audio equipment for consumers and for the entertainment and automotive industry.
Tata Aria is equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, the body-colored rub rails with chrome inserts. Official reports also stated that ‘ Tata Aria has been designed to achieve an optimal balance between ride comfort, control and stability, the suspension of the Aria is tuned for both normal roads and off-roading conditions. Its low-roll characteristics and higher soaking capacity ensures sedan-like ride quality and SUV-like off-road capability.’
Seat description:
Plush leather seats with beige fabric upholstery, door trims, height-adjustable driver's seat, a tilt-adjustable steering and leather wrap for the steering wheel - all add to the innate sense of sophistication inside the cabin, along with the most comfortable driving positions.
The three-row theatre style flexible seating ensures ample space. Like the driver and the front passenger seat, the second row seats can also be slid fore and aft to increase leg room. Both the second row and third row seats are fully collapsible to make the car roomier for accessories and luggage for that special weekend journey.
AC type:
Dual AC, with Automatic Climate Control, through roof-mounted AC vents, keeps the cabin temperature ambient. Roof utility bins, a glove-box chiller and conveniently placed cup holders helps keep everything you want within easy reach. Keyless entry with a remote integrated key and power windows with Express Down switches add to the comfort and convenience of the Aria.
Steering features:
Cruise Control on the steering allows the driver to set the vehicles speed. Steering mounted Blue 5 Connect for phones and music controls, helps switch between music and conversation at the touch of a button.
Body shell:
Further, the body shell has crumple zones and the doors have side impact bars making it an extremely safe vehicle. Six airbags (driver, co-passenger, side and curtain airbags) give 360 degrees protection to all occupants.
The Tata Aria is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, resulting in superior braking effectiveness and better control. Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Breakforce Distribution (EBD) aids steer-ability and control in emergency braking situations and on slippery surfaces.
As per the official reports, ‘To aid safety, the Aria's ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) senses any mismatch between a driver's intended direction and the actual direction of the car, automatically intervening to apply braking force to the appropriate wheel, thereby stabilising the vehicle.’ Along with ESP, the Aria's Traction Control (TCS) maintains stability under situations of sudden acceleration as well.
The 4x4 Adapterra torque-on-demand system of the Aria senses the various terrain conditions, automatically supplying torque in varying proportions between the front and rear axles, aiding off-road driving, as well as stability on normal roads. The Aria also comes with Perimetric Alarm System for added security.
Ankush Arora, Senior Vice President (Commercial), Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors Ltd. highlighted, “We at Tata Motors have imbibed an aggressive four-pronged customer-focused strategy in the all-new Aria, giving our ever-discerning customers a vehicle that is more powerful, more fun, more reliable and extremely safe".
