Fire in the Korea building pulls down Samsung website for a day

A fire in the Samsung SDS building in South Korea affected users worldwide

Samsung confirmed the news about a fire in the SDS building in Gwacheon, South Korea, on April 20, 2014. The news affected the Samsung website and it went offline, which indirectly caused errors on many users’ smartphones, smart TV and handheld devices that accessed the website for updates and online feeds.

Engadget reported that owners worldwide have witnessed anything from error messages to being unable to access apps on their smart TVs. The outage lasted several hours and ended around 6:15AM ET. Samsung has restored all services son after the incident. Many users who were having problems with their smart TVs and phones have reported full access again. A Samsung SDS blog post confirmed the fire and outage, while also apologized for the inconvenience.
