Aditya Chopra, Rani Mukerji get married secretly in Italy
The wedding was a very small intimate affair amidst close friends and family
Mumbai: Bollywood director-producer Aditya Chopra has finally tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Rani Mukerji -- albeit away from all prying eyes in Italy. The couple married on Monday night in Italy and in attendance were only close friends and family.
A confirmation came this morning from Yashraj Films which said, "We are happy to announce that Mr. Aditya Chopra and Ms. Rani Mukerji got married last night on 21st April in Italy. The wedding was a very small intimate affair with very close family and friends. We wish the couple a very happy married life."

Rani Mukerji too sent out a statement saying," I would like to share the happiest day of my life with all the fans all over the world whose love and blessings have been part of my journey all these years. I know that all my well-wishers who have waited for this day, will be really happy for me. It was a beautiful wedding in the Italian country side with just a few of our close family and friends with us. The one person I missed terribly was Yash uncle but I know he was there with us in spirit and his love and blessings will always be with Adi and me. I have always believed in fairy-tales and with god's grace my life has been exactly like one and now as I enter the most important chapter of my life- the fair tale continues."
Rani Mukerji signed Yashraj Film's 'Veer Zaara' after her break-up with actor Govinda in 2002. That is when she met Aditya Chopra on the sets. In no time, the romance had flaired into love. Rani would also get food cooked from home for the foodie Aditya. However, Aditya's parents Yash Chopra and Pamela had reservation about the budding relationship as they were very close to Aditya's then wife Payal. Payal had designed the entire YRF studios. Yash Chopra didn’t want Payal to leave the house but in 2009, Aditya Chopra filed for divorce.
Congratulations poured in for the couple by industrywallahs, though most of them had no idea about the wedding that had taken place.
Kunal Kohli, who has directed 4 YRF films with Rani in 3 of them, was not in the know of the wedding plans. He said, "I wish them both lots of love and my best wishes are with them."
Music director and singer Shekhar Ravjiani, who too has worked with Adi, congratulated the couple. He told Deccan Chronicle, "Really happy to hear the news. Wish them both a lifetime of happiness."
Raj Kumar Gupta who directed Rani in 'No One Killed Jessica' said, " I wish her a very happy married life."
May Allah bless my friends Rani & Adi. May u enjoy the small things my friends for in the end they r the big things. Happy union...love you.
