Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi began the Hyderabad leg of his poll campaign, sharing stage with Telugu Desam supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu and actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan. Pawan Kalyan arrived on the stage after Modi and Naidu to a rousing reception.
Pawan slams KCR for threats
Pawan Kalyan begaan his speech targeting TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and said divisive politics should have no place in the country. He said former prime minister PV Narsimha Rao also won with the support from people of Andhra. He targeted Rahul Gandhi saying, "Maybe he thought he can become PM just because he was born in the Nehru Gandhi family." He said that the country needs strong leaders like Narendra Modi and not family leaders.
Pawan Kalyan also referred to his brother K Chiranjeevi in his speech. He said that rising prices of essential commodities and inflation were affecting everybody adversely. He ended his brief speech with a slogan "Congress Hatao Desh Bachao."
Telugu Desam supremo N Chandrababu Naidu said that Sonia Gandhi had helped corruption grow in the country. He pitched for Narendra Modi to become the next Prime Minister. "A situation has arisen where there is a need for the BJP TD combine to come into power." He criticized Manmohan Singh saying, "Manmohan has failed on all fronts even after being PM for 10 years. Narendra Modi had been elected three times as chief minister and he needs to become prime minister."
Naidu recollected the last the time Telugu Desam and BJP had an alliance. "We developed infrastructure, Hitec City here with support from the NDA government." Chandrababu Naidu also criticized the TRS saying, "There is a need for Telugu people to unite. The two states have to grow together." He concluded saying only NDA government can make agriculture profitable.
Naidu said that there was no doubt that Modi will become prime minister. "There are many problems, employment, power, price rise. If all these problems have to be solved, NDA government has to be formed at the Centre," he said. "I have seen the public meetings today. Seeing the response, I am sure Modi will become PM." Naidu criticized TRS again saying that the party has done nothing for the people. "They have fleeced people and collected money using the agitation as a front."
Chandrababu Naidu went ahead to say that there was no third front and the TD BJP combine was a win-win situation. "Modi leadership will make sure there is development in the country on par with China and other countries." He raised Modi's background and said, "Modi has said he is a chaiwallah, he will sell tea but not the country." Naidu went on to add that how much ever the Congress had tried to criticize Modi, he had been elevated that much.
Naidu said that “I promoted IT but Modi is even more technologically aware”. He said that was a matter of pride that Modi could become the first PM belonging to the Backward Classes. He called for people to vote for the TD BJP combine, and said that a backward caste person should become the CM of Telangana.
BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi began his speech in Hyderabad symbolically by saying that this was the first election in the history of the country where candidates were not fighting elections but the people of the country and their aspirations. He said that there would be a tsunami against the Congress and its allies. "Political pundits are estimating swings of political parties. Only say to them that their estimations will go waste. For you this election is arithmetic, but for the people it is of chemistry."
Modi tries to rake up Telugu Pride at meet
Modi said that Pawan Kalyan, Chandrababu Naidu and him combined will not be three people but 111. "We are three people standing and it will be 111 and not 3. All arithmetic will go wrong”. Modi attacked the Congress government and raked up the pride of Telugu people. "CM Anjaiah was insulted by Congress Secretary Rajiv Gandhi at the airport. There were tears in his eyes. And Congress lost Andhra for the next 20 years." Modi went on to say that “Indira Gandhi backstabbed Nilam Sanjeeva Reddy and VV Giri was made President”. "PV Narsimha Rao was one of the most successful PM of the country. But the Gandhi family didn't recognize him”. He also said that, there were hundreds of schemes in the name of Rajiv and Indira Gandhi, but Narasimha Rao was also a prime minister”. “If someone names scheme on his name, they pack him off." He said Gandhi family was a rival of the Telugu people.
Modi also said that Indians would have to take a visa to come to Hyderabad if not for Sardar Patel. He also said that the Telangana state was a reality. "But creators of Telangana have not for one second thought about the future of the two states. The day Telangana was formed I said BJP has fought for Telangana, we were jailed and martyred for the cause of Telangana." He said the bifurcation process had given birth to the child but "killed the mother." He said that the division of the state had killed the Telugu spirit.
Modi praised Pawan Kalyan and said that he recognized the pain in his eyes for both the states. "There are lakhs of Pawan Kalyan in both the states," he said. He said Vajpayee created three states but there were no tears in the eyes of 'Mother India." Narendra Modi accused the Congress of killing 1100 Telangana martyrs shooting them with bullets. "They have built Telangana on the graves of these martyrs. Can they build your future? They can do nothing or you," he said. Modi added that the people shouldn’t forget the 1100 martyrs when they go for voting, and the bloody hands of Congress. “Give me an opportunity to serve you."
Modi tears into Congress
Modi compared the Congress government to a virus in a computer. He said that the Congress has ruined the country. "This is a digital age. Time has changed. If we want to match the world, we have to dream of digital India." He criticized the Congress and said that the CBI has been used for political reasons. He called the Congress ‘thieves and that they had stashed money in foreign bank accounts’. He said that there was no trust in the country. "No society or country can run without trust. Trust needs to be restored. We need a strong government," he said.
“We have to be in power to take care of the orphans. We will develop both regions. This maa-beta (mother-son duo of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi) has to go. The poll pundits sitting in air-conditioned rooms who talk about one per cent swing, two per cent swing will go wrong in their calculations as election is arithmetic, but 125 crore people’s verdict is chemistry,” he said.
Modi also pitched for youth support. He said that 5 years were a very important time in the lives of youth. "I want to talk to youth in the age group of 18 to 28. If a useless government comes to power at the Centre, your future will be destroyed." Modi said that a strong government was needed at the Centre and in the state. He said that no other party should form government. Narendra Modi asked people to vote the BJP TD combine to power in Telangana and Andhra. He said that he witnessed the same wave in Telangana as across the country. Modi ended his speech by thanking Pawan Kalyan in the end.
