Hyderabad: Telugu film star and Union minister K Chiranjeevi's youngest brother Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday pledged his full support to the TDP-BJP combine in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the ongoing elections to ensure that Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister.

A day after sharing the dais with Modi in an election rally here, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu called on Kalyan at the latter's office this afternoon and discussed political and campaign-related issues.

"Our only objective is to see that Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister of the country. We don't want a prime minister who is remote-controlled," Chandrababu and Kalyan said after the meeting.

Kalyan, who recently floated Jana Sena Party, said he would work together with the TDP-BJP combine in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to ensure the National Democratic Alliance's victory.

"It is essential that the TDP-BJP combine comes to power in both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. With the NDA government at the Centre, it will benefit the two states immensely if the combine comes to power in the two states," Kalyan said.

He reiterated that the Jana Sena did not field its candidates in the current elections only to avoid a split in votes. "Therefore, I pledged my support to the TDP-BJP combine and thereby to the NDA to see that Modi becomes the prime minister," he added.

The actor-turned-politician hailed the TDP's decision to make a backward classes leader the first chief minister of Telangana. "We always stood for social justice. I felt very happy when the TDP announced its decision. I wholeheartedly support it," he said.
