Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Corp, famous for budget phones in the country, is reportedly working on its first tablet after experiencing success in the smartphone segment.
As reported by Focus Taiwan, Topology Research Institute has revealed that Xiaomi is in talks with Intel Corp and Nvidia Corp to make its first tablet in order to tap China’s growing tablet industry. Xiaomi will finally choose either chipmaker to provide the chipset supplies for the new products.
The new tablet is expected to have a 7.8-inch display with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. The tablet is expected to be assembled by tech giant Foxconn Technology Group and could be priced as low as $160.
If the information about the product taking shape is said to be true, we could expect the retina display tablet to hit the stores by early 2015 or even late 2014.
