Mumbai: Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was in the news for “turning down” Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees, is upset about the impression his action is making in the industry. The actor insists that it was not a matter of high-handedness (as the filmmakers may be insinuating), but only the lack of the right script that made him reject the offer.

“I understand it’s PR driven, but it’s unfair to make such insinuations. I’d love to work with SRK but I haven’t stumbled upon a script yet,” he says.
Currently he is bonding with SRK’s rival Salman Khan. “Yes, Salman and I are working in Kick. He is a great guy and I admire the way he has shaped his career.”

Nawazuddin may be playing second fiddle to Salman in Kick, but he is adamant on signing films as a protagonist too. “Kick is an exception, but I’m clear about not playing second lead in any other film.” Is that why he opted out of Raees and Bank Chor? “A filmmaker asked me to put on 15 kilos for a role. I told him I’ll build six pack abs and work hard to get into the skin of the character, but I won’t put on weight for a role.”
