Beyonce turns pageant queen for music video

Pop star Beyonce has premiered her new music video for the song Pretty Hurts online. The song is the opening track from the singer’s fifth, self-titled album released last year, reported Ace Showbiz. The seven-minute video depicts Beyonce as pageant queen ‘Miss 3rd Ward’.

The video explores the definition of pretty, following Beyonce as an entrant in the beauty contest as she squabbles with other competitors and undergoes various measures to remain ‘pretty.’

The video was released to coincide with Beyonce fronting the cover of Time’s Top 100 Most Influential People issue.“It’s something important for me as an artiste, because it’s not about fashion or beauty or music, it’s about the influence I’ve had on culture,” she said of the accolade. “To be among the other influential people is a huge honour for me.”
