Hyderabad: “I have two daughters and I want to perform their marriage. Twice those who came for the match went away looking at the overflowing drainage and unhygienic conditions around my house. Please do something,” a woman living in a slum in West Marredpally beseeched Ch. Malla Reddy of the Telugu Desam who was visiting the area as part of his election campaign.

A visibly moved Mr Malla Reddy promised to improve the underground drainage network in the area, and urged her to vote for him.
Residents of the area are pouring their hearts out to visiting politicians who are more inclined to at least listen when elections are imminent.

“I am moved by the plight of the people in Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency. The Congress rule in the last 10 years has left them in horrible conditions. The TD-BJP will bring back the lost glory of Hyderabad and once again Greater Hyderabad will become a clean and green city. Narendra Modi will form the government at the Centre and Chandrababu Naidu in both the states. Steps will be taken to ensure that people from all sections of society lead a life of dignity,” Mr Malla Reddy told this correspondent.

A few days ago, Mr Malla Reddy was questioned by colony residents in Malkajgiri.

“What are you going to do about the closure of roads by the army?” asked K. Ramachandran and others.

“The issue is in the court so I cannot comment much on it. But depending upon the outcome of the court case, I will pursue the matter with the defence ministry. The Telugu Desam will submit proposals for merger of civilian areas in the cantonment with the GHMC. Unlike the Congress regime, a positive result will be achieved by TD-BJP on roads issue in army area,” Mr Malla Reddy promised.

In a short span of time, Mr Malla Reddy has covered almost all the Assembly segments in the Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency.

“In Malkajgiri Assembly constituency there is acute shortage of water, in Kukatpally there are problems such as insufficient water supply, lack of infrastructure, the LB Nagar Assembly segment needs special focus on improvement of all civic amenities, there is a need for underground drainage system and additional water supply in Secunderabad Cantonment, and Qutbullapur Assembly constituency needs drinking water distribution lines and there is industrial pollution problem in some of the areas of Uppal Assembly segment,” Mr Malla Reddy reels of the woes of people living in the constituency and assures them that “only the TD under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu can develop the city and state.”

Mr Malla Reddy is feeling extra confident after the film star Pawan Kalyan announced his support to him in Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency which has over 30 lakh voters.
In another major boost to his poll prospects, Nara Lokesh, son of TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu, held road shows along with Mr Malla Reddy in Hasmathpet, Old Bowenpally, Cantonment, and ECIL.

Mr Lokesh said if voted to power, the TD would implement the NTR Health card scheme, set up exclusive women police stations and ensure employment to all the youth.
