Congress candidate Anjan Kumar Yadav eyes hat-trick in Secunderabad
Anjan Yadav has been working relentlessly for his constituency
Hyderabad: “Today we are able to have three meals a day because of you. My son has regained his health and is going to work every day. May god bless you and your family with health, happiness and success,” said T. Jeevan Kumar (name changed on request), a resident of Chilkalguda, when Anjan Kumar Yadav, the Congress contestant from the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency, visited the Chilkalguda area as part of his election campaign.
Mr Yadav had used his good offices to extended Rs 2.40 lakh financial help under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to Jeevan Kumar’s son, who was ailing from a life threatening heart ailment. The total bill for the treatment had crossed Rs 5 lakh, and Mr Yadav had given another Rs one lakh from his pocket to the family.
This is not an isolated case, as men and women from all communities and religions are giving their blessings to Mr Yadav for his help.
“I consider all the voters in the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency to be my own family. So these blessings for good health, happiness and success will be reaped by not just me and my family, but entire population living in the Secunderabad constituency,” he said.
Mr Yadav, who is confident of achieving a hat-trick by winning the seat for the third consecutive time, is probably the only MP in Greater Hyderabad and its surroundings who has spent all his MPLAD funds. Over Rs 35 crore worth works have been sanctioned by him in the last 10 years from MPLAD funds in addition to another Rs 5 crore works sanctioned by him under the general budget.
On MIM fielding a candidate against him, Mr Yadav said that Muslim brothers and sisters have told him “not to worry”. The Muslims have realised that any vote for the MIM in Secunderabad will indirectly benefit the BJP. So the Muslims have decided to give their vote to a secular party like Congress and ensure that Muslim vote bank is not divided, he said.
Mr Yadav also pointed out that he is the only candidate from the Yadav community to be an MP from all of South India. Of the nearly 19 lakh voters in the Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency, over 12 lakh voters are from the BC community, and he is banking upon then to win these elections.
On the BJP-TD alliance, Mr Yadav said, “There is no Modi wave in Telangana. People of all communities, regions and states stay in Secunderabad. There has not been a single riot here. There is no place for communal politics here. Mr Yadav’s poll prospects were further bolstered by the public meeting addressed by Rahul Gandhi at LB stadium and Ghulam Nabi Azad’s road shows in the constituency.
