Mumbai: Though Prakash Jha’s 'Satyagraha', starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Rao, Arjun Rampal and Manoj Bajpai released on August 30, 2013, the satellite rights still remains unsold. Despite the hype which the star-studded movie created, the film wasn’t able to achieve the target it had set forth. While the actors moved on with their respective projects, the studio (UTV) wasn’t able to sell the satellite rights.

According to a source, what made it all the more difficult is when STAR INDIA, who signed a deal with Ajay Devgn for the exclusive satellite rights to all his upcoming films till 2017, didn’t add this one in the list. “Except for 'Raajneeti', none of Prakash Jha’s film like 'Aarakshan' and 'Chakravyuh' were fruitful investments for the channel who aired these movies,” revealed an insider.

With a plump deal inked by the actor with the channel, it was assumed that Satyagraha, sooner or later will be aired on it. However, another source to the channel said, “ The channel is very keen in picking up Ajay’s next films like Singham 2 and Action Jackson, but for some reason, they wanted to stay away from Satyagraha.”

While an attempt was made to contact the channel, they chose to stay mum on the query.

So why didn’t other channels try and pitch for the film. An official from a rival channel revealed, “Ajay has shaken hands with one channel for all his films. Why should we bail the film out”?

The film currently lies unsold with the studio and Ajay, in the recent past has checked with them regarding the status of the satellight rights. All efforts to get the film appear on national TV has not been succeeded.
