Chevella: The three urban segments of the Chevella parliamentary constituency look like they have no problems, with the high-profile information technology companies, giant malls and posh eateries, particularly in Serlingampally segment.

But here, as elsewhere, people complain about poor sewage disposal and traffic congestion due to narrow connecting roads. A majority of people living in the Serlingampally Assembly constituency, work in the IT sector.

Their major grouse is the frequent traffic snarls due to the congested roads leading to the Hitec City. Sitting Congress legislator Bikshapati Yadav said that he had sought Rs 440 crore from the Centre to improve water supply in the rapidly growing area. Slums are an integral part of the urban segments, but they remained ignored, affecting the urban areas.

“We live under the threat of catching deadly diseases as we live beside a big dumping yard,” said Narasamma, who lives near Madhapur.

In Maheswaram rural segment, farmers are in soup as they have sold their farmlands to real estate developers without taking ownership documents.
However, in face of so many problems, Congress candidate from Chevella Lok Sabha constituency P. Karthik Reddy confidently said that  he would solve all the problems of the poor by changing “perception of politics and politicians.”
