Politicos promise houses for poor
Leaders promise houses in Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills
Hyderabad: To own a house is one of the biggest dreams of the urban poor. And what more could a voter ask for if that home is located in Khairatabad or near Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills? This is what our netas are promising if they are voted to power.
How is it possible to provide houses in core city areas when land prices are so high? “Yes it is possible and we (the Congress) are going to construct houses for the urban poor. The Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) is a Central scheme under which independent houses and flats are constructed in the same slums where people are staying. Also, the Congress government will regularise all unauthorised houses located in 100 square yards or less land area in all the slums in the city,” said Danam Nagender.
P. Vijaya Reddy of YSRCP said Mr Danam Nagender’s promises of houses for the poor have remained on paper. “YSR issued G.O. 86 for the regularisation of houses on less than 80 sq. yards land in the city. Lakhs of houses were constructed for the poor under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Only YSRCP can provide houses to the poor,” Ms Vijaya Reddy said.
