Priyanka Gandhi calls Narendra Modi childish
Priyanka asked people to decide what type of government they want
Lucknow/New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday continued her tirade against BJP’s PM candidate Narendra Modi even as there seems to be a rethink in the party on her possible visit to Varanasi.
Pulling up Mr Modi for calling Rahul Gandhi a ‘shehzada’, Priyanka while addrerssing a rally in Amethi said, “The top leadership of a party (BJP) make fun of Rahul. At times, they call him specimen, at times they compare him to a comedian and at times they call him shehzada. You are dreaming of becoming the PM , then why behave so childishly?”
She asked people to decide what type of government they wanted and what sort of politics they are looking for. Meanwhile, speculation is rife that Priyanka would visit Narendra Modi’s turf after the polling in Amethi — her brother Rahul's constituency, ended on May 7. It was made clear she “will only go to temples” and the visit will be totally ‘apolitical.’
However Congress strategists felt Mr Modi’s likely victory in Varanasi after Priyanka’s visit might not only “discredit” her but provide the BJP with a “major handle to target her.” The Congress is pleased at the way Priyanka is targeting Mr Modi and the BJP, but doesn’t want to ‘expose’ her to “more tricky territories.”
