Ex-DGP enters poll booth with party supporters
Dinesh entered the polling booth with 50 party supporters
Hyderabad: Former DGP and YSRC Malkajgiri Lok Sabha candidate V. Dinesh Reddy created a flutter on Wednesday when he entered the polling booth set up at the Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur, with nearly 50 party supporters. Ramanthapur falls under Uppal Assembly constituency, which is part of Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.
There was also a furore when Mr Reddy entered a polling booth at Meerpet along with his followers.When the police personnel present there did not resist him, activists and agents of other party candidates strongly objected and alleged that the police did not act since, he was their former boss.
Mr Reddy, however, denied barging into the polling stations and said he had gone there only to lodge a protest against some staffers at a polling booth who were not allowing YSRC agents to perform their duties.CEC Bhanwar Lal ordered an inquiry into the issue.
TRS candidate for Uppal B. Subhash Reddy, and CPM leaders strongly objected to officials and police remaining silent despite Mr Dinesh Reddy openly violating the model code of conduct. LB Nagar DCP Vishwa Prasad rushed to the Meerpet polling booth and brought the situation under control after Mr Dinesh Reddy and his followers had heated arguments with officials.
