Lucknow: Congress president Sonia Gandhi said on Thursday that BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had started behaving as if he has already been sworn-in as prime minister.

“Mr Modi believes that he has already been sworn-in as prime minister. He thinks results are out and he is sitting on the throne,” Mrs Gandhi said while addressing a rally in Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Mrs Gandhi said that, “The fever of power has affected Mr Modi’s mind and body and he has forgotten that the people in many areas have not yet cast their votes. It is the people who will decide who will form government. He wants all wealth in one hand.”

As the elections are progressing, the exchange of attacks between the Congress and BJP are getting sharper and increasingly personal.

Mrs Gandhi, who usually avoids any direct attack on individual leaders, has finally shed her inhibitions and took Mr  Modi’s name in her speech.

Mrs Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka have challenged Mr Modi’s credentials for the top post and alleged that his ideology will destroy the country.
