THRISSUR: The Guruvayoor temple watchman, V. Radhakrishnan,  suspended for manhandling a devotee, was also accused of sexually assaulting a minor boy near the temple premise a year ago. Radhakrishnan was suspended after he lured the boy, who came to the temple,  and  molested  him in a hotel room.

Guruvayoor Dewaswom Board chairman T.V. Chandramohan did not give any convincing answer about why an employee with such tainted record was taken back when mediapersons raised the issue on Friday. The parents of the boy had filed a complaint with the temple management committee which suspended him pending a probe, he said.

The committee  conducted a probe and gave him a clean chit, Mr. Chandramohan said. Radhakrishan was reinstated  on February 20 this year  after being under suspension for nearly a year. But three days after joining the service, he was found to be involved in an assault on  a devotee.

The CCTV footage telecast  by the television channels shows that Radhakrishnan  beat up two devotees, one an aged woman and  the other her  mentally challenged son, who was with her. Although the two are natives of Kerala, currently they are settled in Coimbatore. Radhakrishnan was seen following the person and slapping and kicking him. He  is believed to have received the job on the recommendation of Congress (S),  a constituent of the Left Democratic Front.
