Hyderabad: Saturday proved to be a big day for Intermediate students in the state as results of both JEE (Main) and Inter final year exams comes out on the same day. Inter second year results were released at 11.30 am, while the JEE (Main) results were posted on JEE (Main) website www.jeemain.nic.in by 7 am.

Students are anxious to know the cut-off marks in JEE (Main) as it will determine if they are eligible to register for JEE (Advanced) for admission to IITs. The CBSE, which conducted JEE (Main), will also declare the list of top-1.5 lakh students and only those will be allowed to appear for the JEE (Advanced).

The online registration for JEE (Advanced) would begin from Sunday. Those selected in JEE (Advanced) must also figure in the “top-20 percentile list” in respective 10+2 board exams to be eligible for final admission in IITs. Over 1.22 lakh students from the state appeared for JEE (Main) on April 6.

Registration process:

Candidates are required to submit scanned copies of date of birth, class X certificate, their signatures in JPEG format, passport size photographs in JPEG format, choice of language for question paper, choice of examination city/town, category/sub-category certificate if applicable, year of first attempt in JEE (Advanced) if applicable, at the time of registrations.

Only JEE (Main) marks will be released on Saturday. The ranks will be declared on July 7 after giving 40 per cent weightage for 10+2 marks. The weightage will be given by adopting ‘normalisation procedure’ to minimise huge variation in awarding marks across all the boards in the country.

A total of 13,56,805 students have registered for JEE (Main) this year across the country. Nearly 15,500 seats are on offer in 30 NITs, 850 seats in 5 IIITs and another 15,000 seats in self-financing institutions. The online registration for JEE (Advanced) will be held from May 4 to 9.

The rank scored in JEE (Main) will be valid for a period of two years. This means that a candidate in the top 1.5 lakh list of JEE (Main) can give the JEE Advanced either this year or next year, after which the candidate will have to re-appear. JEE (Advanced) will be held on May 25 and the results will be declared on June 19.

Last year, the cut-off for AP students to figure in the top-20 percentile list was 91.8 per cent, the highest in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu at 90.9 per cent and Kerala at 85.2 per cent. The CBSE’s cut-off was 81.6 per cent, ICSE (83.2), UP (73), Bihar (65) and West Bengal (61.2).
