Bhimavaram: Many Kapus in Bhimavaram and Narasapuram Assembly segments say that the attitude of film actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan will politically weaken the community.

The community feels that Pawan has become a tool in the hands of anti- Kapu forces and most people from the community were against the star supporting the TD-BJP alliance, particularly Chandrababu Naidu.

Bavisetty Vijaya Bhaskar, a businessman in Narasapuram, said that the communities that were close to power politics had always tried to snub the Kapus to keep them away from power.

“After 2004, the community emerged as a strong political force in the state and at this juncture Pawan Kalyan sailing with Mr Naidu, who is anti-Kapu, will definitely have an adverse affect on the political prospects of the community,” he said.

Vattikuty Nagu, another resident of Narasapuram, called Pawan Kalyan a “destructive force” for the community. He said that the actor was putting the community at stake to settle scores with his brother, Union minister Chiranjeevi.

YSR Congress leader and former MLA  Grandhi Srinivas termed the decision of Pawan Kalyan to support the “killers” of Mohan Ranga and destructor of unity of Kapus as unfortunate. “It seems that Pawan has a short-term memory. I am advising him to watch the movies of Balakrishna in which Chiranjeevi and Pawan were targeted and also to recollect his tonsure episode and the community responsible for it.”

He claimed that the positions currently enjoyed by Chiranjeevi and Pawan were only because of the sacrifices of the Kapu community and the two were trying to destroy the unity of the community for their own goals.
