Kochi: A Death Fest is all set to get hardcore death metal music lovers of the city on their feet to dance to the distorted guitar notes, deep vocals, blasting drumming and fluctuating tempos. Seven prominent death metal bands from Kerala and Bangalore will perform at the Southern Death Fest organised by Moshpit Concerts at Q8 Pac, Gold Souke at 5pm today. Beastial Murder, Occultism, Legates of Reaper, Terminus Exitium, Decaying Humanity, Prime Rage and Humanbroth are seven bands that will perform at the fest. “The Death Fest, the first of its kind here will have three bands from Bengaluru, three from Kochi and one from Thiruvananthapuram. It will be a breathtaking experience,” says Arun M.Kumar, organiser of Moshpit Concerts.

Death metal is an extreme sub genre of heavy metal music. Like its fans, the band members too are keyed up to perform here. Each band will be performing separately with their own death metal tracks. Rogein George, a member of Occultism who is currently doing his engineering says they expect a good crowd support here. “We are a five-member band from Vytilla, Kochi. We have been active in this field for some years now. All of us are college students. We formed this band out of our love for this genre. The band will play five to six tracks at the fest.”

However, for the Bengaluru-based Terminus Exitium formed in 2012 it is their maiden performance in Kochi and they are looking forward to the crowds jumping to their beats. “We are a progressive death metal band from Bengaluru with Carnatic and western classical influences. We are six members. We are really  excited to go on the floors on Saturday as it is our first performance. We hope we will have a good time  here,” says Prethysh M.P., drummer. Sawan Benkal, Subham Saxena, Sudheer S. Reddy, Tariq Ibrahim and Vicario David are other members of Terminus Exitim.

Decaying Humanity is another contributor in the fest. It is a death metal outfit from Thiruvananthapuram formed in 2010 by the group of high school friends Karthik, Vineeth, Rahul and Dinesh who had similar taste in music. Nirmal who plays bass joined the team later. The band is known for its dense and claustrophobic approach towards Extreme metal.
