Elections 2014: Vanka vows Coastal Corridor

Promises to develop food, rice and aqua-based industries in the region

Palacole: YSRC’s Narasapuram Lok Sabha candidate Vanka Ravindranath said his top priority would be to develop the Coastal Corridor which had the potential to spur industrial growth, particularly along the coastline in West Godavari’s Narasapuram and Bhimavaram.

Mr Ravindranath made has made his millions by exporting hair in bulk. Speaking to this newspaper at Palacole as he waited for party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Mr Ravindranath said as an industrialist he was well-versed with the problems faced by workers.

He said that the coast had ample resources to develop food, rice and aqua-based industries. China has developed 92 varieties of rice products and it would be possible to develop more products in Seemandhra with not only in rice but also in a range of vegetables.

Mr Ravindranath, son of three-time MLA Vanka Satyanarayana, said he had waited 24 years for his political arangetram (debut) as he was searching for a suitable platform. “Being the son of a senior politician of the state, it was easy for me to enter politics at any time,” he said.

“I became confident that our leader Jagan Reddy will sincerely support my cause. That is why I joined him to serve the people.” He said that the people irrespective of caste had always shown the utmost affection towards his father. During the camapaign, he said, he was feeling the same affection.
