Firstouch smartphone can translate text into vernacular languages

Mumbai: Firstouch, a new smartphone has been developed by a group of IIT graduates of MoFirst Solutions, India.  This handset comes with a 48-button virtual keyboard has the ability to translate English text into Indian languages and vice versa. 

Firstouch lets users translate text into several languages by simple swipe gestures. Official reports stated, ‘ Its default keyboard includes alphabets in English as well the Indian language. So there’s no need to switch keypads from one language to another just so you can translate them either way’. This can in fact help in breaking the language barriers and there's even a possibility that its sales might shoot up in rural areas.

Mobiletor.com reported, ‘Sudhir Bangarambandi, Rakesh Deshmukh and Akash Dongre have patented this keypad as well as the Matra predictive text technology that comes along with it’. The handset features a 4-inch touchscreen, comprising of a 1.2GHz dual core processor and runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 operating system. It sports 4GB internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB. On its connectivity front, Firstouch supports 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and AGPS.

Delhi Daily News also reported, ‘The first batch of Firstouch phones will be launched in Gujarat and will be available for sale in Rajkot this May’. Firstouch will be available on stands at Rs 6,000.
