Rs 2 crore seized in poll raid in Andhra Pradesh; 4 held

Rajahmundry: Four persons were arrested after Rs 2 crore of unaccounted cash was allegedly seized from them in the city, the police said on Monday.

‘As a part of poll-related checking, the police intercepted a car at Morampudi junction late on Sunday night and found the four persons illegally carrying Rs two crore’, stated  Ravi Kumar Murthy, the Rajahmundry (Urban) Superintendent of Police,

'Such a huge amount was seized for the first time in East Godavari district,' he said. The accused were identified as V Srinivas, N Satya Sari Ram, M Srinivasa Rao and M Satyanaranaya.

‘The amount was apparently drawn to pay the salaries and arrears of employees of a construction company. The interrogation of the arrested persons is still on.’ Murthy added.
