Asaduddin Owaisi moves Election Commission against wakf board

HYDERABAD: MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi complained to the Election Commission against the AP State Wakf Board special officer, Shaik Mohammad Iqbal for targeting the mutavallies (mosque care takers), those in support of MIM.
In his complaint to state CEO Bhanwar Lal, Mr. Owaisi said that Mr. Iqbal and other board members are functioning as henchmen to Telugu Desam. Many MIM supporters have been issued suspension notices. And, even grants to these mosques have been stalled, he said. AP State Wakf Board (APSWB) suspended mutawallis (managers) of three dargahs, including the prominent Dargah Hazrat Yusufain (DHY) in Nampally.
The decision was taken after the board recently noted instances of “mismanagement” at these places of worship.“Suspending the mutavallies who are in favour of MIM party clearly violated the poll code of conduct. Mutavallies of Kadapa and Anantapur were also suspended by Iqbal who is an Andhra cadre officer,” said Asaduddin Owaisi at CEO’s office. He urged the commission to look into the matter and take appropriate action.
