Mumbai: Rajeev Khandelwal, who enjoyed a fruitful stint on television, said he ventured into cinema to grow up as an actor.
Having starred in popular shows like 'Kahiin To Hoga' and 'Saach Ke Saamna', the actor, 38, said, "In TV, I was stuck for years. I wanted to grow up."
The actor, however, acknowledged the wider reach of the medium of television and said he would like to straddle both the media.
He said that in other countries actors juggled both serials and films, "but here the perception is different. I don't wish to be constrained by perceptions".
Rajeev, whose next big Bollywood project is 'Fever' said, "I can't do singing and dancing type of things."
"I need script, I need content. Masala films are also a part of industry and the most important thing being for you to walk into a cinema hall and walk out happily," he said.
The actor said he wants to do a film themed on Bengal's Durga Puja. "This is a new territory for me. From Kaushik (Ghatak) to Kaushik (Ganguly), I will love love to work with all creative men."
