Hyundai launches new Eon

Car will compete with Maruti Suzuki’s Alto K10 and Datsun GO

New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India has launched a new version of its entry level small car Eon, which will have one litre engine. It will further fuel  competition in this segment. The new version of Eon will compete with Maruti Suzuki’s Alto K10 and Datsun GO.

The firm had this year launched its compact sedan Xcent and next generation SUV Santa Fe.  The new 1 litre Eon will be available along with the current 0.8 litre Eon.

Hyundai Motor India, MD and CEO, B. S. Seo said that the new version of Eon will further consolidate Hyundai’s position in the domestic market.

“Hyundai consistently innovates to meet and exceed the demands of the customer and the 1 litre kappa engine now offered in Eon is an extension of our modern-premium brand philosophy and will delight our customers and further consolidate Hyundai’s position in the domestic market,” said Mr Seo.

The Eon 1 litre kappa engine will be available in Magna+ variant at an ex-showroom price (New Delhi) of  Rs 3.83 lakh.

“The all-aluminium 1 litre kappa engine promises weight reduction with adoption of  aluminium head and block that help achieve improved fuel economy,” said Hyundai.

The company saw its domestic sales jumping up by 8.8 per cent in April. But, its exports fell by 39 per cent.

The overall growth, which comprised of both the domestic sale and exports fell by 12 per cent.
