Nobody in Bollywood is my friend: Nargis Fakhri
Fakhri admits being an outsider, she has been taken for a ride many times
Mumbai: Nargis Fakhri is one actress who says it like it is. After the Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukerji wedding, everyone now wants to know when Nargis will tie the knot with Uday Chopra, who she is said to be dating.
Nargis says, “Marriage has never been something that I’ve thought about. It’s not the be-all and end-all for me. My mother was a staunch Roman Catholic and would tell me and my sister that we shouldn’t mingle too much with the boys.
One day we will get married to a man who loves us. But as I grew up, I realised that isn’t always the case; I’ve seen my parents split. All this got me leaning towards spirituality to find peace. A lot of married couples split and I’ve had relationships and live-ins too. But I have never felt the need for marriage. I don’t know if I will ever marry.”
The actress admits that being an outsider in Bollywood, she has been taken for a ride many times. She says, “Yes, I have been fooled a lot. I don’t call anyone in Bollywood my friend because you never know, one fine day they become strangers. It hurts a lot when co-stars, who were once friends, refuse to acknowledge you. I don’t understand how and when equations change in Bollywood. I would like to see these things as learning experiences.”
Ask her about one person who hasn’t changed a bit and she immediately says, “John Abraham. People think he is reserved but once you know him, he is so much fun. I feel he is a genuine person and hasn’t changed one bit.” The actress is now busy with her Hollywood film Spy.
When asked about it, she says, “It’s not like I’m lobbying for Hollywood roles. The offer came and everything seemed good. Also it allowed me to travel, which is my first love. I’m open to Bollywood projects too but if I do get good offers from abroad, I’d certainly do them.”
