Hyderabad/ Visakhapatnam: Convinced of an imminent defeat, Jai Samaikyandhra Party candidate and Anakapalle MP Sabbam Hari withdrew his candidature from Vizag Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, a day before polling.

Although Mr Sabbam Hari blamed YSR Congress and extended support to the TD-BJP alliance it is believed that his own bleak prospects and that of his party in Seemandhra polls lead him to quit before fighting the polls. However, his move has landed him in trouble as YSRC lodged a complaint with the Election Commission stating that he asked people to vote for the TD-BJP combine after the election campaign date ended.

Mr Sabbam Hari accused YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of having a hidden agenda and ulterior motive behind fielding his mother Y.S.Viajayalakshmi for Vizag Lok Sabha. He also announced his resignation from the JSP and pledged his support to the TD and BJP candidates.

He said, “The Apex Court refused to stay state bifurcation and it is now clear that the process cannot be stalled so there is no point in continuing on a Samaikyandhra plank.”

YSRC spokesperson Vasireddy Padma said, “Hari’s withdrawal from polls and support to the TD-BJP has only exposed his political insolvency. He was groomed in politics by YSR but now he is shamelessly slinging mud at YSR’s wife at the instigation of Chandrababu Naidu.”

YSRC also lodged complaint with the EC against TV channels which telecast Sabbam Hari's interview. “Sabbam Hari and the TV channels have committed the offence under RP Act,” she said.
