Eflu sees protest against expulsion

Hyderabad: Mohan Dharavath, a student who had been rusticated from the  English and Foreign Language University, on Wednesday filed an SC/ST atrocity complaint against the varsity’s Vice-Chancellor and Proctor alleging them of harassing him as he belonged to a marginal caste.

The Osmania police, with whom the complaint was filed, is yet to register it as a legal opinion is awaited.

The complaint was filed against Eflu V-C Professor Sunaina Singh and Proctor Professor Harish Kumar Vizra. The copy stated: “Since April 17, 2013, the university authorities have been harassing me as I belong to ST caste. On May 6th I received the rusticating order from the proctor for a period of four semesters which will end on 31st December, 2015, on charges of breaking the library door during the protest on closure of 24-hour reading room while I have never broken the door nor have I instigated others. The charges have been fabricated, targeting me.”

Meanwhile, the Osmania police said that the complaint had not been registered. “The complaint has been sent for a legal opinion; after thorough investigation and following legal advice, action will be taken,” said an OU police official. The V-C was unavailable for a comment.

Eflu authorities had rusticated three students, Mohan Dharavath, PhD, Satish Nainala, PhD and Subhash Kumar, MA on Tuesday for breaking a glass door of the university library on March 11 and for instigating others to do the same during a protest held against closure of the library. The students have claimed that they weren’t present during the protest .
Meanwhile, students held a day-long protest at Eflu campus on Wednesday against the suspension.
