Kochadaiiyaan release postponed to May 23
Rajani fans will have to wait longer as technical hazards lead to further delay
Chennai: The much-awaited film superstar Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan, which was scheduled for a release on May 9, has been postponed again. Bookings opening at the major multiplexes in the city on Tuesday got full in a few hours. When news of the postponement broke, die-hard fans of the superstar, who were all set to watch the film, were disappointed. One of the spokespersons from a leading multiplex in the city, said, “We closed the advance booking for the film on Tuesday afternoon, and will refund the money to those who have booked the tickets.”
The Kochadaiiyaan team officially confirmed it through a press release, which said, “The film was scheduled to release in 6,000 screens in 3D and 2D across the world. Due to technical hazards, it was tough to get all the prints ready in the stipulated time. Hence, we have zeroed in on May 23 as a convenient date for the theatrical release of the movie.”
The film is being released in six Indian languages, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Punjabi, and is directed by Soundarya R. Ashwin. Earlier the release dates of other small films in K’town were not fixed and the makers of those films were depending on Kochaidaiiyaan’s release date. Now, Kreshna’s Yaamiruka Bayamae has been slotted for release on May 9.
