Hyderabad: The record polling in Seemandhra had YSR Congress leaders in an upbeat mood on Wednesday. They claimed that their exit polls had revealed that the party would bag at least 146 Assembly seats and 23 Parliament seats in Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Senior YSRC leader, M.V. Mysoora Reddy, said that there was a clear wave for the fan (the party symbol) and added that they would form the government in Seemandhra.

According to the YSRC sources, the exit polls indicated that out of the 175 Assembly seats, the party would win 146, TD would win nine and the-re would be a tough fight in 19 Assembly constituencies including in Hindupur, from where actor Balakrishna has contested on a TD ticket.

YSRC also estimates that the party will win 23 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats while the TD will win Srikakulam. There will be a tough fight in Rajahmundry. The party claimed that it would have a 51 per cent vote share in Assembly seats against the TD’s 39 per cent and a 53 per cent vote share in Lok Sabha seats against the TD’s 40 per cent.

However, reports from the districts indicated that while the YSRC was leading in rural segments, the Telugu Desam was ahead in urban areas. Most districts witnessed a tough fight between the two parties.

Report also indicated that the YSRC would sweep the polls in Kadapa while it would be a 50-50 battle in Nellore and several districts and that the party would win 100 to 120 seats.

A prominent vernacular TV channel reported that the YSRC would win 102 Assembly seats in Seemandhra though pro-Telugu Desam channels claimed that Mr Chandrababu Naidu would get around 98 to 102 seats as against 65 to 79 for the YSRC. Like the YSRC, the TD leaders too are claiming that the huge voter turn-out is in their favour.

Meanwhile, sources in the police department said the YSRC would sweep the rural segments whereas there was a tough fight between the TD and the YSRC in urban segments with the TD having the edge.
