Qualifier 2 will be held at Wankhede: Mumbai Cricket Association
MCA refused the reports of shifting IPL Qualifier 2
Mumbai: Mumbai Cricket Association made it clear that no IPL match will be shifted from Wankhede stadium. There were reports that Qualifier 2 on May 30 will be shifted to Brabourne stadium and the final also may be shifted. “We haven’t got any communication from BCCI in this regard.
We are giving our ground to Mumbai Indians as it is a BCCI event. If the shift happens then it will be breach of contract signed with MI and we have to undermine the situation after that,” MCA Vice President Ravi Savant told this newspaper on Wednesday. “There were a few security issues and a technical issue in the first match and we sorted them out. There were no complaints made by BCCI, however, we pointed the issues on our own. We have written to IPL president Mr Sunil Gavaskar that security is not in our hands as it is looked after by three agencies — IPL, MI and the local police,” he said.
Savant said if the match is to be shifted to Brabourne Stadium then they have to seek permission from MCA. “CCI (which owns Brabourne stadium) has to seek permission from MCA for hosting any IPL game as it comes under our jurisdiction. If they are hosting any other franchise game then we may have no objection,” he added.
