Hyderabad: While the Telugu Desam and YSR Congress have been claiming clean sweeps in the Seemandhra polls that concluded on Wednesday, the betting odds being offered on the election outcome says otherwise.

As per the odds offered in the Satta Bazaar, there will be a difference of 10-15 seats between the winner and loser. The favourite among punters currently is the TD-BJP alliance with 95-105 seats, showing a clear win for the party as the magic number in Seemandhra is 88.

Meanwhile, YSRC is being pegged at 80-83, indicating a defeat for the party. The trending figures about TD forming the government in Seemandhra is completely in contrast to two weeks back, when the odds were on YSR Congress getting 88-90 seats, which indicated a win for the party. However, the TD started picking up recently.

“It was mainly during the last three days of campaigning by Pawan Kalyan and Narendra Modi when the punters started favouring TD to form the government in Seemandhra,” said a city-based punter.

“Since these odds are on the edge figures, the percentage is 1:1. On a winning bet of Rs 10,000, one gets back Rs 20,000,” explained the punter.

But there are also odds being offered on YSRC crossing the 120 seat mark, meaning a victory for the party with majority. The odds here is about Rs 1.80 per rupee invested.  At a local level, there is heavy betting going on regarding the fate of particular candidates. Heavy bets are being placed on MP candidate from Vizag, YSRC honorary chief Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, losing to BJP chief Kambhampati Haribabu.  Similarly, punters are betting heavily on YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy winning Pulivendula seat with an 80 per cent majority and on TD chief Naidu winning Kuppam with a 50,000 majority.

Sources said that more than Rs 10,000 crore was riding on the outcome of the Seemandhra elections.
