Mumbai: Standard gold (99.5 purity) resumed slightly better at Rs 29,990 and strengthened further to a high of Rs 30,080 before drifting to close at Rs 29,790 from preceding weekend's level of Rs 29,960, showing a loss of Rs 170 per 10 grams.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) commenced modestly higher at Rs 30,140 and firmed up further to a high of Rs 30,230 before concluding at Rs 29,940 over its previous weekend's close of Rs 30,105, registering a fall of Rs 165 per 10 grams.

Silver ready (.999 fineness) started lower at Rs 43,185 and plunged further to finish at Rs 42,440 against last Saturday's close of Rs 43,440, disclosing a sharp fall of Rs 1,000, or 2.30 per cent per kg.
