VECV will launch new range of heavy trucks and buses in market
Hyderabad: VE commercial ventures group, which is a joint venture between Volvo group and Eicher Motors, launched the Eicher pro 1000 and pro 3000 series of light and medium duty trucks on Monday. The new range will replace the existing trucks over a period of 18 months. Planning on a complete product revamp, VECV will roll out a wide range of trucks and buses this year. The PRO series will replace the existing models right from 5 to 49 tonnes trucks and buses. The firm which grew at 13.8 per cent last fiscal aims to grow at 15 per cent this fiscal.
“We are planning to launch products progressively. The next product on the avail is a 9.5-tonne truck, and thereafter a 31-tonne truck under the Pro 6000 series early next month. The new range of buses, Skyline Pro, will hit the market in a couple of months,” Shyam Maller, senior vice-president, VECV said. The firm which sold 44,000 trucks last fiscal plans to grow 5 per cent this year. “We have sold about 1,800 trucks in the first 5 months of 2014. The exports are looking up especially in Bangladesh. We are also looking at South Asia and Africa for exports,” he added. When quizzed about the mining ban which has almost killed the mining trucks Mr Maller said, “There is a gleam of hope since the lifting of ban in Goa, which is one of the major mining markets. Any further respite is possible after the formation of new government.”
