Is Rajinikanth's role in Lingaa related to the Mullaiperiyar dam?
Sonakshi Sinha and Anushka Shetty will be sharing the screen with Rajinikanth
Chennai: Rajini in one of his roles, will be seen as an engineer who constructed the Mullaiperiyar Dam, which helps make Tamil Nadu fertile. One may recall that the Mullaiperiyar Dam issue was the one over which Kerala and Tamil Nadu were locking horns until recently. TN won a major victory when the Supreme Court quashed the law enacted by the Kerala government to restrict the water level in the dam.
Though Lingaa will be a typical commercial cocktail from Ravikumar like his previous Rajini films such as Muthu and Padaiyappa, a close aide of the filmmaker tells us that here he is touching upon a social issue which is of high relevance today. But he maintains that there’s nothing controversial in it.
The two heroines for Rajini’s dual roles include Bollywood hottie Sonakshi Sinha and leggy beauty Anushka Shetty.
Rajini will sport two different looks in the movie. The producer Rockline Venkatesh has already revealed one of Rajini’s looks during the muhurat. Meanwhile, a schedule involving the Enthiran star and Dabanng girl whose character is set in the 1940s was recently completed. Production sources say that Rajini was highly impressed with Ms Sinha’s acting prowess and quick adaptability. “Though Tamil is an alien language for Sonakshi, she made sure that she got her dialogues right in the first take itself by adapting herself quickly which surprised all including the Superstar,” revealed a unit hand who was present at the shooting locale.
Sonakshi who was thrilled with her period looks had reportedly said, “I am part of the 1940s generation and I play a girl who helps Rajinikanth Sir. The look and setting are completely new and I am thrilled about my part.”
