Ernakulam tops in HS result

Over 25,000 Plus Two students in EKM district qualify for higher studies

Kochi: Ernakulam came out in flying colours in the higher secondary final examination results declared on Tuesday,  recording the highest pass percentage of 84.35 in the state and also the highest number of  A+ scores in all subjects. As many as 29,808 students from 176 schools had registered for the examination from the district  and 29,645  appeared for it. Of them 25,006  can now go on to pursue higher studies having cleared it.

While  four unaided schools saw all their students pass in the exam ,  no government and aided institution could boast of this.  The unaided schools in question are the  Rajagiri HSS Kalamassery , St Anns HSS Eloor, Gujarati Vidyalaya HSS Mattancherry and Vidyadhiraja Vidyabhavan Aluva. The highest number of students -  403  -  appeared for the examination from an aided school,  St Ignatius HSS of Kanjiramattom. Of them an impressive 341 students passed, according to higher secondary department officials.

Two other schools with the next highest number of students and an impressive pass percentage are the Sanskrit HSS North Paravur, which saw 367 of its 400 student clear the exam and SDPY HSS Palluruthy , which saw 337 of its 400 students get through it. Both institutions are aided. Other aided schools like St Joseph HSS Paingottur had  a  pass percentage of 99.1, SH Thevara HSS , 98.38 , SNDP HSS Udayamperoor,  98.84 , St Augustine Convent HSS, Kothamangalam, 98.77 and Nirmala EM HSS Muvattupuzha, 98.99 .

St. Antony’s girl scores 100 in all subjects

Keerthana R of St Antony’s Higher Secondary School, Kacheripady, scripted a rare success story as the higher secondary exam results came on Tuesday evening. She scored 1200 out of the total 1200 marks and became the pride of Vypeen from where she hails and also of the school which groomed her. Interestingly her sister Pavithra R also had achieved this rare feat two years ago. Both of them secured it in the Bio-Maths group.

Now Pavithra is studying at Model Engineering College for BTech second year while Keerthana has set her eyes on medicine. Keerthana said hard work was the secret behind her 100 percent success. “Moreover I got grace marks since I achieved state-level first in agarbathi making in the work experience section,” she said. Both of them had A+ in all subjects in Class X as well.
