The police used tear gas, but when that failed to disperse the mob, they resorted to firing.
About 15 vehicles were either burnt or smashed. Local leaders rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. But the mob, which consisted mostly of youngsters, continued the attack.
The mob ran around the dense slums and attacked people randomly, most of them still fast asleep. Armed with swords and granite stones, they entered houses and attacked whoever was there, man, woman, or child.

The incident came to light on Wednesday at around 5.30 am. Members of one community, angered by the act of desecration, attacked those they believed were responsible and tension mounted in surrounding areas (Arsh Mahal and Sikh Chawni).
Three persons were killed and at least 20 injured at Kishanbagh in Hyderabad in the early hours of Wednesday, when the Border Security Force opened fire on two warring groups.

Those who had minor injuries were treated while those with bullet injuries were rushed to the operation theatre.

Worried relatives claim that they were caught unaware by the sudden violence on Wednesday morning.
Eight people who had suffered bullet injuries in the violence that broke out at Kishen Bagh, Rajendranagar and three people who had suffered knife injuries, have been admitted to Premier Hospital, Care Hospital and Apollo Hospital.
Some trouble-makers were taken into custody and were being questioned about their alleged role in the incident, police sources said.
Depending on the situation today, police may take a decision on relaxation in the curfew period.
Large number of police personnel, including RAF and Central Para Military Forces, were deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
Police clamped indefinite curfew under section 144 of CrPC in Rajendranagar Police Station limits after the clashes, which left 17 people, including ten police personnel, injured in heavy stone pelting.
