Andhra Pradesh hikes DA for government employees; to cost Rs 710 crore to exchequer
DA is being enhanced during President's rule for the first time

Hyderabad: Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan has hiked Dearness Allowance to all state government employees and pensioners in the state with effect from January 2014.
This is for the first time in the state’s history that the DA is being enhanced during President Rule. Around 12 lakh employees, including pensioners, would be benefitted.
The state government has to bear an additional burden of Rs 710 crore in cumulative of five months, that is Rs 142 crore per month.
