Big buzz from small screen
An upcoming episode from Diya Aur Bati Hum has been inspired from former top cop Kiran Bedi’s life
Ram Kapoor
For Colors’ Mission Sapne, Ram Kapoor decided to help a Chandigarh-based taxi driver Kiran Sharma. Ram raised enough money for Kiran to afford a good education for her six-year-old daughter. Ram drove a taxi around the busy streets of Mumbai in the sweltering heat of May, fulfilling multiple requests from his passengers. After a hard day of driving through the city’s infamous traffic snarls, Ram managed to raise a good enough sum to give Kiran’s daughter the future she dreams of. To make sure that the little girl receives a quality education, Ram decided to donate an amount equal to what he had raised, multiplied by 100! “As actors, our lives are so busy that we often forget to thank all the people whose daily contributions make our lives so much simpler. This was my way of saying thanks in a small way. Driving a taxi around in Mumbai is quite a tough task. I hope that the money I have been able to raise for Kiran Sharma and her daughter will help make their lives better.”
Comedy Nights With Kapil
A source from the unit for Comedy Nights With Kapil told us that host Kapil Sharma had a great time when celebrity guest Kapil Dev visited the sets. The comedian revealed that his father was a huge fan of the cricketer. He, then, dedicated a song to Kapil Dev’s wife Romi, which the cricketer lip-synced along to. “Navjot Singh Sidhu told everyone that Kapil Dev is like a ‘bheegi billi’ in front of his wife. When Kapil asked Kapil Dev how he stayed so fit, Sidhu replied, ‘Iska jawaab humari bhabhi hai! He (Kapil Dev) may roar like a tiger outside, but at home, he meows like a kitten!’” said a source.
Diya Aur Bati Hum
An upcoming episode from Diya Aur Bati Hum has been inspired from former top cop Kiran Bedi’s life. Lead actress Deepika will enact an incident from Ms Bedi’s life when she jumps into a fire to save people. A source from the show told us, “The body double was ready for the shot but Deepika insisted on performing all the stunts herself.” Deepika, on her part, said that she was very happy with audience reactions to her role so far. “Also this is something that Kiran Bedi did on her own so I was very motivated to do the same,” Deepika said.
Kumkum Bhagya
Shabbir Ahluwalia has been training his Kumkum Bhagya co-stars for the upcoming Zee 20 Cricket league. Sriti Jha, Mrunal Thakur and their screen mom Supriya Shukla aren’t exactly cricket buffs, so Shabbir had his work cut out for him. He wasn’t just a tough coach though, he ensured that Supriya and Mrunal drank enough fruit juices and glucose through the day.
