Hyderabad: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and his team are in an upbeat mood and expect to form the government in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Naidu was all smiles as he accompanied his wife Bhuvaneshwari to the inauguration of a private dental hospital in Kukatpally.

Party activists shouted, “Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu zindabad!”

A woman walked up to Mr Naidu and asked when he would become Chief Minister. “Wait for the results tomorrow,” said a confident Mr Naidu.

The TD has had very good results in municipal and zilla parishad polls in Seemandhra, and is expecting the same in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

“We will win more than 125 Assembly seats and form the government. Telugu Desam has been further strengthened by municipal and zilla parishad elections,” said C.M. Ramesh, the Telugu Desam politburo member.

Mr Ramesh claims the party will also win 20 Lok Sabha seats in alliance with the BJP. He accused the YSRC of giving false information when it claims it has won in the local body polls.

“Once the elections are over, everyone should strive for the development of the state. Only Mr Chandrababu Naidu can develop the region and everyone should extend support to him,” he added.

Mr Naidu has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner requesting that the resu-lts be cross verified.

The CEC responded positively to Mr Naidu's request and agreed to cross verify in two steps i.e. EVMs and PADUs before announcing the results.

The TD politicians in Telangana have kept silent over the party chances there in alliance with the BJP.

Earlier in the day, Mr Chandrababu Naidu launched the Bhagavad Gita written on a 819-foot long paper by a B.Tech third year student G.N. Tejasri, at his Jubilee Hills residence.

“I wrote the Bhagavad Gita in the fond hope that Mr Chandrababu Naidu will become the Chief Minister,” gushed Ms Tejasri who has created a world record by writing the Quran on 999-foot long paper.
